Meet Cristiane

I am Cristiane Yamabayashi, a licensed physiotherapist in Calgary, Alberta. I have worked and gathered experience in different fields of the rehab world including cardiorespiratory, orthopedic, and neurological rehabilitation. I developed a passion for vestibular rehabilitation while treating dizziness, vertigo, headaches, and neck pain. I graduated in 1999 in Brazil with a Bachelor's in Physiotherapy and later obtained a Doctorate and completed post-doctoral studies, enabling me to translate research into evidence-based practice.

I have worked at the Neurovestibular (Vertigo) Clinic since 2018, collaborating with various specialists to address the most complex cases of dizziness and vertigo in Calgary and surrounding areas.

I have completed the Vestibular Competency Course from Duke/Emory University and the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) in Atlanta, along with additional courses on concussion and multiple orthopedic manual therapy courses. I am a certified MDT McKenzie therapist and Gunn Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS) practitioner. Additionally, I have training in assessing and treating people suffering from cervicogenic headaches and migraines from the Watson Headache Institute, as well as Pain Reprocessing Therapy. My experience in vestibular, neurological, and orthopedic areas allows me to identify if dizziness or balance issues are related to vestibular causes, neck problems, or other disorders needing a specialist’s attention.

A skilled clinician learns and adjusts with experience, which is what makes each therapist unique. My passion for physiotherapy comes from helping others reduce dizziness and pain by promoting recovery through education and exercise.
